Love Yourself: Solos

This was a series of illustrations that I started in Aug 2019 and finished in Jan 2020. They’re based off of the solo tracks done by BTS from their Love Yourself album series and their various individual mixtapes. I really wanted to capture the feeling of each song, since each was different in sound and MV imagery, and were made to fit each members’ personality.

The first piece I did was SUGA’s, as a kind of nod to another BTS song, “Blood, Sweat, and Tears”; I had the image of blood turning into butterflies as a play on the song title and as a metaphor for effort turning into outcome. I decided from there to keep the circle bg motif throughout the rest of the pieces, with animal or flower imagery that suited the message of each song.
